I remember my first days at Albert like they were yesterday. I remember walking up the long stairs and down the long hall. I remember meeting my first roommate, Fernando, or ‘Side-show Bob’ as we used to call him. The first year was a year of many firsts for me. I met my first Mexican and Russian students. And who can forget Eman, the first rapping Kenyan! Throughout my years at Albert there have been many friends that have come and gone, like busboys in a restaurant. One of the great privileges of boarding at Albert College is that you get to meet people from all over the world. An extension of that privilege is that you end up making friends from all over the world, friends that will provide a lifetime of great memories and smiles for years to come.
When I first arrived at Albert College, my sense of responsibility was far from polished. I was coming from an environment and peer group where academic achievement was ranked somewhere below surfing, sailing and swimming, and just above art class....

The Albert College Senior Boys’ Soccer team claimed its second consecutive CISAA Division III Soccer Championship Friday. In claiming 1st place overall, Albert also completed its second consecutive season of undefeated league play by topping Rosseau Lake College 3-0 in the semi final and outlasting Appleby College 2-1 in an epic final.
Nigerian striker, Lotanna Eze, and German midfielder, Christoph Frey, led the Panthers offensively. Chardo Quinn of Bermuda and Mitchell Torres of Quinte West provided solid backfield play.
Albert College dominated its league opposition this season, scoring 44 goals while conceding only 11. With many starters returning next year for their senior season, Head Coach, Scott Mills is optimistic about the future. “We have a great core of players returning next year and I think we have an excellent chance to ‘3-peat’ next season.”

“I have attended Albert College for 2 years as a boarding student and am in grade 12 this year. I would like to study Psychology at either McMaster, Guelph, Ryerson or Laurier University next year.
I was elected by my peers to represent them as a Prefect this year. Being a Prefect is kind of like being a member of student council. We organize events and help to make the school a better place. I think being a prefect means being a good role model and showing initiative and participation in the school community. I also think it means meeting deadlines and being responsible and respectful to each other.
My favourite part about being a student at Albert College is living in residence. I live with girls from all over the world and I think it is a great experience to get to share each others cultures and build new friendships with so many different people. Also I think living in residence helps to prepare you for University and the future.
I love the athletic program!...

Our Mission: Albert College inspires academic excellence, self-confidence, and sound moral values in a family environment.
Our Vision: Albert College is a small international school that utilizes its diversity, required participation in the 5’A’s, innovative programming and student leadership to develop global citizens within a climate of respect, compassion and mutual understanding.
Albert College certainly would not have been as diverse 154 years ago when it was founded, but they absolutely believed in a liberal arts education and they definitely promoted respect, compassion, and mutual understanding.
And what about Our Core Values? I could go on and on about each one of our core values but I would like to focus on the broad strokes of what it means to be a student at Albert College – what it means to be a member of the Albert College family.
Core Value #1 - Individuality: We respect all students for their unique talents and strive to work...

There is no greater decision than where to educate your child. Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS) has done the research to determine Canada’s best schools. Of the thousands of independent schools in Canada, only 90 meet the highest of National Standards, including Albert College.
Here are ten of the most important questions to ask in searching for the best independent school:
1. Is the school accredited by CAIS? Check the Directory for the list of schools that go beyond Ministry expectations and meet National Standards in all areas of programs and operations at www.cais.ca.
2. What is the curriculum approach - A.P., I.B., Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, Montessori? How will the learning environment best support the needs of my child?
3. What are the advantages of single sex vs co-educational? Small vs large? City vs. rural? What environment will best challenge my child?
4. Is there an option to board? How might boarding best suit my child? ...

“I am so honoured and privileged to be talking to you on behalf of this year’s graduating class. I am extremely proud to be a part of the 45 students who, in only a short while, will be ending their high school and Albert College careers. I think I speak for all my fellow graduates when I say that this year was one of the most unique, stressful and insightful journeys in all our high school years. And finally, after all the exams, study halls and University applications, we find ourselves surrounded by family and friends, counting down the minutes until we throw our caps up in the air and officially graduate.
It is with the support of so many people here today, as well as those who could not attend, that we have made it to the final stage of our senior year. First of all, I would like to thank the staff of Albert College for all that they have done to ensure that we leave Albert prepared and knowledgeable. But it is not only the lessons and extra help that we appreciate. I don’t know many other schools...

“A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.” - Lao Tsu
The first month of the school has almost come to a close. When I walk down the hallways, it feels like we have been together for much more than only a month.
Orientation Camp is a great way to kick off a new school year. Camp provides all students, faculty and staff with an opportunity to get to know one another in a more casual, informal environment before we have to get down to the business of classes, athletic practices and homework. Clearly it is an effective process, because I can see the bonds that are already forming among students and between students and the faculty/staff.
The school is here because of the vision and hard work of generations of people over the past 154 years. Certainly just looking around the building gives one a sense of the history of the school. Just by being a student here, you and your family have become (or will become) a part of the legacy of this school: a legacy...

Phil Pallen ’06 was one of 88,000 people who applied for Two and a Half Men actor, Charlie Sheen’s summer internship. The internship process generated much media attention but so to did Phil - creating a social media campaign, branding himself as “Tiger Blood Phil” and turning heads across Canada and the U.S. He has since decided to put his social media expertise to the test in Hollywood instead of waiting for the final results. We checked in with Phil to see what he was up to.
Q. Did you ever expect to get this much attention for your “Tiger Blood Phil” campaign?
A. I absolutely did not expect it. On the other hand, I was ready for it. The timing was great because 6 months prior, I switched my personal brand up and finished my new website, demo reel and portfolio. So then I was flooded with press, but it was great because I got a ton of exposure. I loved every second of it and I thanked everyone who supported me individually from the beginning of my campaign. That’s a big part of it.

PG stands for Post-Graduate and is offered as an additional year of study, after grade 12.
The Ontario curriculum is designed so that students complete their diploma requirements in 4 years. While this may be the route many students choose, some may find that 4 years limits their secondary school experience and so they may be better suited to completing a 5th or Post-Graduate (PG) year.
There are many reasons why students may choose to complete a PG year. Students may choose to study for an additional year to improve their grades before applying for university or to take additional courses that are needed for a particular post secondary course.
Why would I choose to do a Post-Graduate year?
Broadening Course Choices and University Options
A Post-Graduate year will allow you to take a broader range of courses. If you are not sure of your career direction, you can take courses in several different streams if you have more time to complete your diploma requirements.
