A Day with Keegan in the Middle School
“Monday mornings begin with the most important meal of the day, breakfast around 8 a.m. Then it’s off to chapel for 8:30 a.m. where I sit with my advisor and listen to announcements. Today in chapel, the prefects are promoting the next school dance with a funny skit. At 8:40 a.m. I have Phys-Ed with Ms. Acton. We are playing tennis outside today. At 9:40 a.m. I have French and we are preparing Harry Potter skits en Francais. 10:25 to 10:40 a.m. is break. I walk with my friends to Ackerman Hall to grab an apple and then head to the common room where we play a game of foosball. Last class before lunch is Learning Strategies at 10:40 a.m.
One of the many perks of being in grade 7 and 8 is that we get early lunch at 11:40 a.m. I sit with my friends in Ackerman Hall for lunch. It’s fajita day today! There are always lots of options for lunch. After lunch we have supervised activities either in the gym or outside. 12:45 p.m. is advisor meeting and extra help. I meet with my advisor, Mrs. Moodey, and my advisor group until 1:30 p.m. I had a few questions about my math homework so Mrs. Moodey helped me out.
We have arts period three times a week, but not on Mondays, so now at 1:30 p.m. I am off to English followed by Science at 2:30 p.m. We are creating ecosystems in science. At 3:30 p.m. classes are done for the day and I head to soccer practice. The team is doing well and I am looking forward to our game on Saturday. I say bye to my friends after soccer and head home to start packing for the Middle School French immersion trip to Quebec City on Thursday.”

Chloe - Grade 11 Day Student
Chloe is in Grade 11 and is an example of an Albert straight “A” student. Chloe works hard to maintain her academics and has outstanding learning skills, but being a straight “A” student at Albert doesn’t only mean excelling at Academics. At Albert it means being involved in all aspects of Albert’s A’s. She is an active participant on our Athletic teams playing volleyball, basketball and lacrosse. In the Arts, she sings in the choir and played a major role in the school’s musical production. In Active Citizenship she has accumulated over 64 hours in community service. For Adventure, she has skied at Mt. Tremblant, helped to organize our orientation camp and took part in a white water canoeing trip.
Chloe has been chosen to represent the student body next year as a prefect. The prefect program is an elected group of students who represent the school in various leadership roles around the school. Chloe looks forward to being a good role model for her peers next year in her role as prefect.
“We have no doubt that we have made the best choice for Chloe and for our family. Choosing Albert College has given Chloe a positive and well grounded academic experience which will provide her important opportunities and open many doors in her future learning.”
- Caterina Gucciardi and James Harrison, Parents of Chloe (Grade 11)
“I love the teachers at Albert College because I feel that I can go to them about anything…they always make extra time for me as a student.”

Vasily - Grade 12 Boarding Student
“Hi! My name is Vasily and I have been a student at Albert for three years and I am from Russia. One of my fondest memories from living in residence is the poker nights that we have. I learned to play poker in residence and I really like it. Living in residence has taught me a lot of things; how to live with a group of people from different cultures, to share, be patient and consider other people.
The first day of school at Albert is unlike any other first day of school anywhere else. The whole school packs up (teachers, students, residence staff, everyone), and we go to this beautiful camp in Algonquin Park for a few days. We go canoeing and sailing, rock climbing and zip-lining and do fun activities like dodge ball and capture the flag. You get to know your teachers and make friends. I met some of my best friends at camp. It is a relaxed environment where everyone gets to know each other really well before school even starts.
I love the Adventure programs at Albert, especially Duke of Ed. I like the involvement that Duke of Ed gives to students. I went on a two-night canoe trip with some of my peers and my Residence House Director, Mr. Fredericks. I enjoyed Canadian nature, fishing and canoeing. I learnt how to work as a team with others, we had to set up our tents and prepare meals. I learnt a lot about the Canadian outdoors, I got to know my peers better, made new friends and learnt a lot about myself as well. The adventure trips at Albert help to make a strong family bond even stronger. It is a good opportunity to build great relationships with teachers outside the classroom.
I made the right choice by coming to study at Albert College. I learned English, met new people, experienced other people’s cultures, became more independent and gained self-confidence.”
