About the Program
When JK and SK children arrive this September, many of them will be embarking on their first-ever experience of “full-time” schooling as they join their counterparts in Grades 1 to 6 for a full slate of learning from Monday to Friday each week.

At kindergarten age, children need a warm, inviting, accepting and supervised program that will stimulate their growth and development and maintain their curiosity about learning. Our new, expanded full-time kindergarten program will work to further strengthen our students’ social, emotional and physical skills with varied opportunities to explore reading, writing, mathematics, science and technology, social studies and the arts.

In addition, our program will offer daily French instruction and physical education. Our music program at the College is nurtured and valued beginning in kindergarten. Our music specialist will ensure a quality age-appropriate program that honours the rich tradition of musical and personal development.

Junior Kindergarten:

A letter from the Principal of the Junior School, Mr. Ric Anderson

Staffing and Facility Update
Letter to Parents - July 2010

New students entering Junior Kindergarten next fall will enjoy a newly-renovated and bright and cheerful space in our former Junior School site located around the corner at 28 Highland Avenue.

Two large classrooms (in a generous “L-shape”) are being modified to accommodate the specialized learning space required to operate an excellent early primary program. In addition, a brand-new kitchen is being constructed in the “heart” of the teaching space, which will facilitate our lunch/snack program, as well as cooking activities for the teachers and children. This work is currently underway. We will be hosting an “Open House” for parents and children at the earliest opportunity later in the spring. We hope you will be impressed and look forward to sharing it with you!

All applicants and inquiries for JK will receive a personal invitation to our “Open House” when the time comes. While it will be located in a different building, the space will be prepared and planned with the same care and attention to detail which has become the hallmark of our Junior School learning environment. As you will appreciate, some materials and equipment will continue to arrive throughout the summer months as the staff prepares the classroom for our September opening.

Junior Kindergarten will be offered on a full-time basis or part-time basis depending on student readiness and family need.

Option 1:          Full-Time          Monday to Friday inclusive             8:30 A.M. – 3:30 P.M.

Option 2:          Part-Time         Monday to Friday (mornings)*     8:30 A.M. – 11:45 A.M.

*Parents wishing to increase their child’s program time to include additional full days on Mondays and/or Thursdays (subject to a fee adjustment) are asked to contact the JuniorSchool office at (613) 968-5726.

Senior Kindergarten:
Senior Kindergarten children will continue their learning in the current classroom space on a full-time basis next fall. After a year of preparation in JK, we are convinced that these students will make the transition to full-time schooling with relative ease. We are looking forward to welcoming both new and returning students to the routine of daily classes in the fall. We believe there will be many benefits for these children and their families as the groundwork continues to be laid for success in Grade 1 and beyond!

SK will operate Monday to Friday inclusive, 8:30 A.M. – 3:30 P.M.
