Food at Albert
Early Primary Learning Centre and Junior School
A balanced meal is served daily to all full-time students in Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 6 at the Early Primary Learning Centre (EPLC) and at the Junior School. The food services staff accommodates allergies, intolerances and religious restrictions to meet dietary needs of each student. EPLC and Junior School menus are created based on a nutritious meal using the Canada’s Food Guide. Two per cent white milk and 100% fruit juice is provided to all students. Additional snack foods are available as needed.
Students in Grades 1 through 6 gather together with their teachers in the Great Hall for lunch everyday at 12:00 p.m. while Senior Kindergarten students enjoy lunch together in their classroom. The EPLC is equipped with their own kitchen and the Junior Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten students enjoy lunch and snack times together. Parents can experience the food at Albert College during various receptions, events and the Year-End Celebration.
Middle and Senior School
The Albert College Foods Services staff take great care when preparing each meal. All meals are created in house using local produce when available, keeping in mind the Canada’s Food Guide. The food services staff accommodate allergies, intolerances and religious restrictions to meet dietary needs for each student. A nutritious, balanced meal is served three times per day at the Senior School for breakfast (8:00 a.m.), lunch (12:00 p.m.) and dinner (5:30 p.m.). Snacks in between meals are also available.
The Food Services staff go above and beyond to make everyday unique for meals by incorporating themes and celebrating different cultures. Holidays and special occasions are recognized and influence meals prepared that day. Parents can experience the food at Albert College during various receptions, graduations and Convocation.
Each summer, the Food Services staff participate in Food Safely Courses and professional development.
