Judah Reflects on Being a Prefect

Growing up the child of an Alumni Social Prefect, I have only ever heard stories of the limitless possibilities available at Albert College, as well as the unparalleled warm and welcoming environment. A feeling I aspired not only to match but to enhance to its maximum ability.

As a seemingly new student, the prospect of becoming a Prefect was a tall and daunting obstacle, an obstacle I planned to crush. So, I through myself into the deep end. I’d lend a helping hand when it was needed, or even when it wasn’t, and when the time came, I was elected to be the Social Prefect and I have never turned back.

In the short time I have been a Prefect, we have organized a multitude of epic school wide events, ranging from the mid-autumn outdoor movie nights to the Haunted Halloween Manhunt chase. The event this year that has taken the cake was the semi-opening night viewing of the recently released movie Eternals where the school had our own private screen for the night.

Though this year has been considerably successful, it has not come without its own share of challenges. Specifically, COVID-19 when we were forced into lockdown once again.  To keep the spirits alive, I hosted a virtual cooking show in which students, teachers and parents could participate and donations from registration went to Gleaners Food Bank, community partners for success, etc.

I am eager to see what the tail end of this, my graduating year, has in store!
