Every student is an 'A' student.

At Albert College, every student, from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 experiences all five of the A's that are integral to an AC education. Academics is, of course, our primary focus, but all students participate in the Arts, Athletics, Active Citizenship and Adventure programming. We strive to inspire excellence in all five of the A's, ensuring students develop into well-rounded global citizens within our close family environment. Through the 5 A's our students leave as confident, creative, collaborative, compassionate and courageous graduates ready for post-secondary education.

The College is non-denominational, however great care is taken to honour all religious traditions. Our history is Christian in nature, through an affiliation with the United Church of Canada.  

Yes, we offer the Ontario curriculum.  For our core courses, such as English, math and science, we only offer Academic level courses. Therefore, even our elective courses like visual arts, music and drama which are Open level, are by default also streamed, as our students are focused on attending post-secondary studies. Due to our small class sizes, we are able to work closely with students to ensure they are challenged and engaged.

 100% of Albert College graduates go on to study at the college or university of their choice. In any given year our students receive an average of five admission offers.

Yes, each student has an Advisor whom they see every day and meet with three days a week. It is the role of this teacher to keep up to date on the student’s performance academically, socially, in athletics and in boarding. The Advisor is the liaison between other staff, the Assistant Head - Senior School and with parents. Students also have extra help sessions two days per week where they can meet with their teachers.

Yes, all students must wear our school uniform. We work with Top Marks School Uniforms. Dress #1 and #2 uniform pieces for Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 can be purchased directly online.  Pre-Kindergarten shirts are available at the Guild. For day students in Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12, tuition fees cover all program-related activities, such as camp, enrichment activities, leadership program, travel and related admission fees required by the school’s athletic and cultural programs and some weekend social committee events. Daily lunches, library services, computer and technology services, health and wellness services, the school yearbook and student photographs are also included.

For boarding students in Grade 7 to 12, tuition fees cover meals and accommodations, all program-related activities, such as camp, enrichment activities, leadership program, travel and related admission fees required by the school’s athletic and cultural programs and some weekend social committee events. Library services, computer and technology services, health and wellness services, the school yearbook and student photographs are also included.

Albert College offers various payment plans, including Early, Standard and Monthly Payment Plans. Payment plans vary based on grade level and plan type.

Anyone can apply for tuition assistance. It is important for applicants to realize that the assistance program is meant to supplement, not replace, the family’s financial commitment. The income of families receiving assistance varies from $40,000 to $130,000. Only students who have been admitted by the Admission Committee can be considered for assistance. Requests regularly exceed the tuition assistance budget. However, with the significant sacrifices families are prepared to make for students receiving assistance, the majority of students accepted are able to attend. Our total population in the Senior School (Grade 7-12) is 192 students, 51% of these students are international. With over 20 countries represented in our student body, students come to us from countries such as: Bermuda, Barbados, Jamaica, Germany, Mexico, Russia, Korea, Vietnam, China & United Arab of Emirates.

Students have ample opportunity to take part in scheduled and spontaneous events throughout the entire year.  Almost every weekend, boarding students can partake in an array of activities, such as laser tag and paintball, skiing, movie nights in the boarding house, school basketball and volleyball tournaments, Karaoke and make your own pizza and sushi nights.

Weekend activities are a key element of life in the Albert College community. Typically, they start in September with a "Welcome to Albert" dance and paintball. In October we get together to watch scary movies and set the tone for the frightfully fun haunted house and Halloween dance. To finish the first term, students' talents are displayed in a Coffee House and generally they prepare for the holidays with a shopping trip to Toronto.

After the holidays students visit Ottawa to see Canada's Parliament Buildings and the National Art Gallery, attend the annual Winterlude Festival and take part in traditional activities like skating on the Rideau Canal and shopping at the historic Byward Market.

In addition, the Social Committee plans spirit week, movie nights, outings to some of our great area beaches and a trip to Canada's Wonderland, one of our country's premiere theme parks.

The English as a Second Language (ESL) program is designed to help Albert College students acquire the English language skills necessary to succeed in all courses at Albert College and beyond. Learn more here. 

Albert College also has a three-week summer program for students between 12 and 18 years of age to improve their English skills while experiencing some of the exciting attractions of central Canada. Learn more about the program.

Yes, but international students can not have their own car on campus.  Day students may drive to and from school.

Our boarding houses close during breaks. We prefer students go home for winter and March breaks, as the two-week holidays allow time for travel. A March break service trip may be offered some years. We also help organize home stays during long weekend breaks with current families or through various homestay organizations. Often, boarding students will visit family or friends for the long weekend breaks. We charter buses to and from Toronto (Scarborough Town Centre and the Wilson TTC Station) for the ease of our boarding students. 

Students in the Senior School bring a personal electronic device, including laptops, to class.

All students have the option to join any team, club, or activity. Students must participate in a team sport in at least two of the three terms. Albert College offers many clubs and activities throughout the year, while also allowing space for students to create new clubs and activities.

We want our prospective students to have the opportunity to meet with our current students. Our Student Ambassadors have volunteered to welcome all applicants to the school. They can give you a campus tour during your visit or answer your questions through email. They are also available at receptions and admissions events such as our Open Houses and Spend-A-Days. Yes, many students have cell phones. Cell phone use is not allowed during the academic day.
