My name is Emeline and I have been attending Albert College for 14 years. This year, I was elected as the school’s Enrolment Prefect.
As Enrolment Prefect, I assist Albert’s Enrolment Team and the Direct of Enrolment Management, Ms. Heather Kidd, in recruiting new students to Albert College by organizing and supporting open houses as well as giving school tours to prospective students and their families.
Already we have had many enrolment events, such as a pop-up stand at Zwick’s Park, the Albert College Welcome Barbeque and many school tours. Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting King’s Town School, Kingston, for a day so that their grade 8 students could get a feel for our senior school atmosphere, campus and core values. Albert students who previously attended King's Town School and I got to share lunch with the visiting students before giving them tours of the campus and explaining the benefits of Albert.
This year we brought back the important role of student ambassadors, who help to bring student perspective to the Enrolment Team. They allow for new and incoming students to connect with current ones to help them transition and adjust to a new school and feel as comfortable as possible.
The enrolment portfolio often overlaps with development and marketing, so I often get to collaborate with our Development and Marketing Prefect, Ben. Together we assist and support events such as our Shewfelt Memorial Lecture where we both had the privilege of thanking recent guest speaker Lt. General (Ret) Hon. Romeo Dallaire after his talks to both the students and the general public. An upcoming opportunity which I’m looking forward to is interviewing an Albert College alumnus and then writing about it, to be published in the Albert Talks magazine.
January is a busy month for the Enrolment Team as it is the start of a new year and preparations for the next academic year are underway.
